Realtime magnetometer data and substorm onsets at York
The graph above shows the realtime magnetometer data from the
SAMNET York site, over
the past 24 hours. Possible substorm onsets are displayed as red
marker bars, and the graph is updated every
20 minutes.
To detect substorm onsets, we use the
Pi2
wavelet analysis technique and our
own interpretation routines. Substorm onset markers are placed where there are
two or more minutes of Pi2 activity following 10 or more quiet
minutes.
