On the 7th June 1995 an O-mode pump wave was transmitted by the EISCAT heater along the local geomagnetic field line into the F-region above Tromsø. At the same time heater-induced scintillation of radio noise from Cassiopeia-A was observed in the IRIS beam directed towards the heated volume, as illustrated below. The heater cycle was three minutes on (red line), two minutes off (blue line). Presented at the 7th EISCAT Scientific Workshop.

A plot of the S4 index also shows the heater-induced scintillation.
